THE DUALITY OF SPIRITUAL COURSES AND REGULAR LIFE

May 29, 2016

Anyone who has ever embarked on self-improvement courses, weekend retreats, meditation and yoga retreats, or simply getaway will know that the transition back to regular life can sometimes be rocky. You go away to a beautiful destination and get transported to amazingly peaceful spaces within yourself. You’re flying high on a spiritual “trip”. But as soon as you come back to regular life and have to head to work or come back to your family, you come crashing down.

Depression, irritability, anger are all some of the byproducts of this transition. The reason this happens is because of the duality created between regular life and the “other reality”. The only solution is by bringing that reality into your daily life. It almost has to be done in a stealth like fashion. The last thing you want to do is return to your family life as “high as a kite” and tell them of all the spiritual bliss you are experiencing. They’ll bring you back to earth in no time at all!

Instead you are better to play things down and allow it to infiltrate life in a less dramatic way. Think of a gentle breeze rather than an unstable tornado. Eventually the aim of all spiritual unfoldment is to have no requirement to be here or there in order to feel the bliss. Then whether you are in the workplace, in the family home, or in the ashram or temple it makes no difference. It’s all one and the same.

I hope that helps some of you who have taken to the “spiritual path” and who battle with regular life.
