IF IT SEEMS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, YOU’RE PROBABLY RIGHT

December 12, 2015

We’ve all heard of property or share market spurners who try and sell their get rich quick schemes. Or you develop prostate cancer and read about a miraculous herbal cure. Or you see an ad for a meditation technique that promises instant enlightenment. We all want to be believe in miracles and fairy tale endings, but the fact is, that most of these “too good to be true” deals are nothing more than empty promises.

Regrettably we often learn this through our own mistakes or someone else mistakes. The fact is that, everything, yes everything, takes work. Consistent sustained effort over a prolonged period of time will eventually yield results. This is the most important thing that our kids must learn. There are no short cuts but there are methods that are more or less efficient. Finding the right way that suits the individual is for each person to explore and decide.

Training to be a doctor and a surgeon required that kind of sustained effort over many years. And having been practicing now for 20 years, I can say without doubt that it was all worth it. The satisfaction of helping a fellow human being move from a state of sickness and vulnerability to one of health and confidence, is simply immeasurable. Some people shy away from handwork, but they miss the great joy that comes from applying themselves.

So leave the spruikers to the lazy ones, roll up your sleeves, and grind out your way to success with a bit of guts, determination and will-power.

It’s good for your health!
