PUNJABIS KNOW HOW TO PARTY

November 29, 2015

We went to a wonderful wedding reception last night of some close family friends. It was a great example of integration of multiculturalism into this great Australian country. Punjabi boy meets Australian girl and that makes for a party of extraordinary proportions! But what I love with the Punjabi tradition is that their celebration of life springs from a deep reverence and spirituality.

So many of the beautiful elders that I met last night had that grace and humility that comes from a life well lived. Wisdom that comes out of both tradition and experience. There is nothing like life’s experiences for smoothing out our rough edges. The ego and arrogance all gets set in it’s right place with enough living and experience.

And I love how Australia has embraced other cultures with open arms. The Australian girls were all decked out in colourful Indian saris and everyone danced to the thump of bhangra. At one stage, the fathers of the newlyweds were up on the shoulders of the youngsters and celebrating the union in true Punjabi style!

Each culture can learn from the other, but one thing is for sure, the Punjabi’s sure know how to turn on a show.
