A HEARTWARMING DOCO- CHRIS BUCK- FROZEN ANIMATOR

January 9, 2016

I stumbled across this beautiful interview with Chris Buck, the animation director of the billion dollar hollywood blockbuster, Frozen. If you have some spare time its well worth the watch. Click here.

I particularly enjoyed listening about how his immense talent was recognised by none other than Walt Disney’s wife when he was still in animation school. And equally amazing was how he coped with the death of his 20 year old son just weeks before the release of Frozen. After his death and the release, he had to cope with the two absolute extremes of human emotion. The depths of tragedy and sadness with the loss of a child. And the absolute peak of success for a hollywood director. Somewhere between the two, he managed to find depth and meaning.

Whilst he was at crossroads in his own career and grappling with whether being a cartoonist was a useful pursuit, he came to learn that his son had touched so many people in his short life by giving them hope. It was like the baton had been past on from son to father, and Chris stepped up to carry the baton of hope.

Every job is important. It’s what we put into it that counts. Chris Buck is a wonderful example of this.

Enjoy watching.
