From our earliest days as kids we are tempted by secrets. Our best friend would say, “can you keep a secret, with a cheeky grin? ” And the “get rich quick spruikers” will tell you all about “unlocking the secrets to financial mastery”. We all want to know a secret. Why? Because secrets might make things easier. Secrets may shorten the journey. Yes that’s right, secrets might give you the edge in this dog eat dog competitive world.

But you know what? The fact is that many will use “secrets” as a means to lure you in mainly for financial gain. I’m sorry to give you bad news! There are actually very few true secrets in life. There are no overnight success stories. Anything that looks like an overnight success is preceded by years of hardwork. We can definitely learn from others experience, knowledge and even mistakes, but these are not secrets.

So I say go out and acquire skills and knowledge but never be fooled into the thinking that there is a shortcut to success. Success takes courage, creativity, initiative and sometimes a stroke of luck. Right place and right time and putting yourself in the network and situation where things may just “click”. These are the real secrets of those who achieve success. This doesn’t just apply to the material world. It’s just as relevant to the inner realms, just that these secrets are gratitude, acceptance and contentment.

Perhaps these secrets are something that we all have within us, but just need a little polishing.
