KEEPING IN TOUCH IS EASIER THAN EVER

November 30, 2015

On the weekend I caught up with some of my university mates. We finished university together in 1994. Wow, where did the last 20 years go? We were a pretty wild bunch. Our life motto was “study hard and party hard”. For the first 3 years of medical school we did more of the former, but we knuckled down in the latter years and “got the job done”. As Bryan Adams sang, “those were the best days of our lives!”

We’re all mid 40’s now and there’s plenty of water gone under the bridge. Marriage, kids, careers. It’s probably the busiest time for all of us. Studies show that it’s also the most stressful time and when happiness levels can dip. We lost one of our mates last year to depression and suicide and since then we have tried to meet every quarter. It’s important that we play this game of life as a team sport. And now with social media it’s easier to keep in touch than ever before. A simple tool like google groups and a group email can be sent out for an impromptu catch up.

Those friendships formed in our early days are priceless, untainted and unfettered by the sands of time and those perceived badges of honour! Have a little think and see if there’s friends from school or uni that you wish you had maintained contact with. With a little hunting you will almost certainly be able to track them down.

Life is a continuum from unseen to manifest and back to unseen again. There’s reasons why meet and why we come together.

Stay connected.
