TWO DETOXIFICATION SYSTEMS YOU MAY NOT BE USING

January 18, 2016

The human body has a remarkable process of balance known as homeostasis. Everything is tightly regulated: electrolytes, pH; body temperature; body water etc. If we live in a way that supports the natural balance systems, then we are more likely to stay in good health. But chronic habits that strain the body such as excess sugar or salt or sedentary lifestyle, make the body work harder to stay in health.

Some of the major pathways by which wastes are eliminated are via digestive system and urinary systems. The liver is one of the major detoxification organs in the body. The kidneys are major organs of filtration to get rid of nitrogenous waste products.

But there are two systems that many of us do not make use of on a daily basis. These are the skin via sweating and the lymphatic system via flow of lymph fluid. In the Yogic system of anatomy, there are described 72,000 major “channels or srotas”. I am sure that they refer to these lymphatic pathways that are incompletely described and understood in conventional anatomy.

Simply by moving your body till you start to sweat you can make use of the this excretory system. With regards to the lymphatic system, there is a process of self massage in Ayurveda called “abhyanga” that can be performed on a daily basis that very simply assists with lymphatic flow.

Add both these into your routine and you will notice some big changes in energy levels and vitality.
