Add some meditation to your medication

September 2, 2014

Illnesses are bound to occur in our lives. These maybe minor and of nuisance value such as a cold or a flu, or severe and life threatening such as a heart attack or a cancer. Chances are that all of us will end up on some medication at some stage of our lives whether we like it or not. It is now undisputed that the mind has an important role to play in most illnesses, and that meditation is a useful adjunct to many  conditions.

If you have the option of using your mind to get better as opposed to being under it’s negative influence, which would you choose? I would certainly choose the former.

There are many meditation techniques around so it is important to do your research to see what suits you. The main thing is making it a regular practice, as it actually takes time to shift the mind out of it’s habitual ways of functioning. Speak to friends and colleagues to get an idea of what type of meditation may suit you. There really is something for everyone, and what suits one person may not suit another.

And in the words of  Paul McCartney, “Meditation is a lifelong gift, something you can call on at any time.”

Good luck!
