Perspective….

August 2, 2014

I was recently in the lift at the hospital and two suited men got in at the next level. “How’s your day” I asked. The gentleman replied, “Flat chat busy, we can’t keep up with the demand”. “Fantastic” I replied, “What kind of work do you do”. ” Funeral director!!!”

True story.

How ironic it is that one man’s pain is another mans bread and butter. Being a doctor and surgeon gives one a unique perspective on life, but being in the funeral business you really need two fine skills. One is sensitivity because you are dealing with people’s pain. The other is a sense of humour. If you take all the suffering on board you won’t be able to live.

That is why when I see people chasing money, fame, and power, it  makes me chuckle. People can make themselves sick in this pursuit. They lose sight of the real goal of life. The ladder is leaning up against the wrong wall. Once they reach, they realise that the target was wrong. And then the search keeps going.

Save yourself a whole lot of struggle and understand the dilemmas of life early. Know yourself and then make good choices.
