SACRED HEART HOSPITAL AND FAMILY CIRCLES
There’s a hospital in Melbourne’s northern suburbs called John Fawkner and that’s where I do much of my surgical work. When it was originally built 75 years ago it was called Sacred Heart Hospital and was run by the nuns of the church. When my father commenced work as a General surgeon in Melbourne in the late 1960’s, that was where he started and ultimately that’s where he completed his surgical career in 2007.
I happened to be born at the same hospital in 1971 so the family connection runs very deep with Sacred Heart Hospital. And when i commenced my own private practice in 2009, it was there that I performed my first surgery. In fact the operating suite where I spend most of time operating is in fact the old maternity suite where I was born.
As you can see there are many links and circles that make the hospital a special one for me and my family. The hospital will be redeveloped over the next 2 years which is a wonderful thing for the Northern suburbsĀ and will enable top quality speciality care to be delivered for many years to come.
If you look at your own lives, I am sure you will find many links and circles that seem too entwined to be a coincidence.
In Health and Wellness.
