THE NATURAL FRIENDLINESS OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA

January 17, 2016

The more places that I visit in the world, the further that I come to the conclusion that people are inherently friendly and good. The more remote and simple the place, the less complex their personalities and the more naturally friendly they seem to be. On the last leg of our Xmas break we spent time at Margaret River in Western Australia. We visited beautiful country towns like Yallingup, Gnarabup, and Dunsbrough.

Apart from their very clear and bright personalities they also seemed at ease with their physicality. Being a beach side area, many of the people are surfers and swimmers. They move in a way that is graceful and peaceful. They seem at one with nature. When I contrast this to many of those who live in the city, I find that many city folk have minds that are quite confused. And this confusion seeps into all aspects of their life. From that arises all kinds of doubts, questions and insecurities.

These are the individuals who can never settle and even as their lives progress and they get older, there are still so many issues that never get sorted. There is no contentment or happiness. It seems that the less we interfere with the human organism, the more likely that they will grow in an uncluttered way. Spending time in natural surroundings is a healthy thing.

There’s nothing more refreshing than that. That maybe simplistic, but worth pondering!
